Meta has upgraded its Instant Messaging (IM) platform, WhatsApp, enabling users globally to send high-quality (HD) images within chats.
The new feature will gradually roll out across Android, iOS, and web platforms in the upcoming weeks. This enhancement empowers users to send higher-resolution images, and recipients can easily identify superior-quality photos through a discernible icon.
WABetaInfo previously covered this advancement during Beta testing. It allows users to manually select HD quality each time they choose a high-resolution photo. The feature maintains the images’ dimensions while applying a touch of compression.
It’s important to note that this feature exclusively relates to images exchanged in conversations and cannot be used for status updates. However, Meta has hinted at upcoming support for HD videos, which will further enrich the user experience.
This recent development showcases Meta’s commitment to enhancing WhatsApp’s capabilities, effectively addressing users’ preferences for crisper and more vibrant image sharing in their chats.
