Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj built Prem Mandir, a modern temple, in the famous city of Vrindavan in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. He built it as a temple of Lord Krishna and Radha. The temple was inaugurated on February 17, 2012. Jagadguru Kripalu Parishad, an international non-profit, literary, charitable trust, manages it.
Mathura, the historical city of Uttar Pradesh, is considered to be a form of Lord Krishna, because Shri Krishna was born in this city. The whole area here is full of devotion and grace of Kanha. Prem Mandir has been constructed in Vrindavan city witnessing the divine love pastimes of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani to establish the supreme power of love in the whole world by erasing the distinction of caste, color and country.

Prem Mandir, spread over 54 acres, was built by Kripalu Ji Maharaj. On January 14, 2001, he laid the foundation stone of Prem Mandir. He laid the first brick in the presence of lakhs of devotees. From that day, about one thousand craftsmen from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were engaged in building the Prem Mandir. Thousands of their laborers also worked on the project. After 11 years, it came to the fore. An amount of about 150 crore rupees was spent in its construction. Kripalu Ji Maharaj says that the spiritual welfare of the world is not possible until love attains the highest position.
Architecture of prem mandir
The construction of the grand couple Viharalaya-Prem Mandir started in January 2001. Its inauguration ceremony was held from 15 February to 17 February 2012. It took 11 years to complete the temple.White Italian marble was used to carve the unique Yuglavas of Shri Vrindavan Dham located on Chatikara Marg. It shows a glimpse of ancient Indian craftsmanship. The unique Shriradha-Krishna Prem Mandir was inaugurated on February 17 with Vedic chants and Prem Kirtan. Prem Mandir is 125 feet high, 122 feet long and 115 feet wide. Fountains in the midst of beautiful gardens, the charming jhinkis of Shriradha Krishna, Shri Govardhan Dharan Leela, Kalia Nag Daman Leela, Jhulan Leela have been furnished.
Adjacent to the Prem Mandir, a pillar measuring 73,000 square feet has been constructed. It can accommodate 25,000 people at the same time. The temple walls are made of hard Italian marble and are 3.25 feet thick. The wall of the sanctum sanctorum is 8 feet thick, supporting the weight of the entire shikhara, golden kalash, and flag. The panels installed in the temple are taken from the Shrimad Bhagvat Gita.

Prem Mandir embodies divine love through architecture. The doors of this temple open in all directions giving the message of divine love. Craftsmen have sculpted the leelas of Shriradha-Krishna on the outer walls of the entire temple. At the main entrances, they have made carved pylons of eight peacocks. There are 94 Kalamandit pillars in the entire temple, in which the deities of Kinkiri and Manjari Sakhis are shown.The exquisite carvings and mosaics inside and outside the sanctum sanctorum depicting ancient Indian architecture fascinate everyone.The smooth marble slates of the temple present simple and pithy couplets of ‘Radha Govind Geet’. These couplets render the simple and Vedasmatta way of attaining Bhagavad through Bhakti Yoga.
Devotees of Lord Krishna have great faith in this temple. They consider this temple as one of the most sacred and famous temples of Lord Krishna. Kripalu Maharaj has contributed a lot in the development of Vrindavan, his main ashram is also in Vrindavan. He is always engrossed in the devotion of the Lord in his Sri Vrindavan Dham.
