Introducing the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: A New Travel Experience

Indian Railways is set to roll out its latest addition, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, by February 2024. This sleeper train boasts a fresh design, and images have already surfaced on Twitter.

Impressive Berth Count and Amenities

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is designed to provide an enhanced travel experience. It offers a total of 857 berths in each coach, with 823 for passengers and an additional 34 for staff members. What’s more, every coach is equipped with a mini pantry for passengers’ convenience.

Manufacturing Partnership

These sleeper trains are the result of a collaboration between India’s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Russia’s TMH Group. This consortium secured the contract to supply 120 out of the 200 new versions of Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The remaining 80 will be manufactured by a consortium consisting of Titagarh Wagons and BHEL.

Manufacturers Behind the Design

The new Vande Bharat sleeper coaches are being manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), as reported by the news agency ANI.

A Revolutionary Addition to Indian Railways

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are a significant addition to the Indian Railways fleet. These high-speed trains are designed to allow passengers to comfortably travel long distances overnight.

Symbol of Progress and Self-Reliance

Viewed as a symbol of a progressive and self-reliant India, the indigenous semi-high-speed train aims to offer passengers a completely new travel experience. Speed, safety, and service are the defining features of this remarkable train.

World-Class Comfort

The Vande Bharat Express is equipped with world-class features to ensure a comfortable journey for passengers. Its inaugural run, between New Delhi and Varanasi, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019.

A Testament to ‘Make-In-India’

Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the Vande Bharat Express proudly represents the ‘Make-In-India’ initiative, showcasing India’s engineering prowess.

Swift Progress in Development

The journey to create indigenous semi-high-speed train sets commenced in mid-2017. Remarkably, within just 18 months, the ICF Chennai completed Train-18.

Record-Breaking Speed

The country’s first semi-high-speed train was officially named Vande Bharat Express in January 2019. During its trials, it achieved a maximum speed of 180 kmph on the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section, setting a new benchmark for rail travel in India.
