Prime Minister Modi Launches ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ Program for Aspirational Blocks

In a significant move aimed at bolstering governance at the grassroots level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to kickstart a unique week-long initiative called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ on September 30th. This program is closely linked to the effective execution of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), a nationwide initiative that Prime Minister Modi inaugurated on January 7th.

Enhancing Quality of Life

The primary objective of ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ is to enhance governance at the block level with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for citizens. This endeavor is being rolled out in 500 aspirational blocks spread across 329 districts in India.

Chintan Shivirs as a Foundation

To lay the groundwork for the aspirational blocks program and to formulate robust block development strategies, ‘chintan shivirs’ were organized at both village and block levels across the country. These brainstorming sessions serve as the foundation for ‘Sankalp Saptaah,’ which is essentially a culmination of these collective efforts.

Focused Development Themes

‘Sankalp Saptaah’ will encompass all 500 aspirational blocks, with each day from October 3rd to October 9th, 2023, dedicated to a specific development theme. These themes include ‘Sampoorna Swasthya’ (Complete Health), ‘Suposhit Pariwaar’ (Nutritious Families), ‘Swachhta’ (Cleanliness), ‘Krishi’ (Agriculture), ‘Shiksha’ (Education), and ‘Samridhi Diwas’ (Prosperity Day). The last day of the week, October 9th, will be a celebratory event known as ‘Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh,’ recognizing the accomplishments of the entire week.

Nationwide Participation

The inaugural program at Bharat Mandapam will witness the active involvement of approximately 3,000 representatives from panchayats and block levels across the country. Moreover, an impressive two lakh individuals, including functionaries at the block and panchayat levels, farmers, and people from various walks of life, will also participate virtually.

‘Sankalp Saptaah’ represents a concerted effort by the government to foster holistic development and improved governance in aspirational blocks, thereby making a positive impact on the lives of citizens across the nation.
