Rahul Gandhi’s Train Journey in Chhattisgarh
Promoting Congress and Addressing Local Concerns
On a Monday in Chhattisgarh, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, embarked on a train journey that took him from Bilaspur district to the state capital, Raipur. During this journey, he interacted with passengers on board, making it a unique and engaging experience for all involved. This visit was part of his day-long tour of the Congress-ruled state, where assembly elections were scheduled by the year-end.
The Train Journey
The Congress party had raised concerns about the cancellation of 2,600 trains in the state by the Railway ministry, leading to significant hardships for the people. To address these concerns and connect with the citizens, Mr. Gandhi hopped onto the Bilaspur-Itwari Intercity train from Bilaspur. Accompanying him were Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Congress state in-charge Kumari Selja, and state unit president Dipak Baij, among others. They opted for a sleeper coach for their journey.
The train reached the Raipur railway station at 5:50 pm, where Mr. Gandhi received a warm welcome from a multitude of Congress workers and leaders, including party MLA Kuldip Juneja.
Connecting with the Passengers
During the train ride, Rahul Gandhi took the opportunity to interact with the passengers, including children. One young girl, who happens to be a hockey player, shared her concerns with the Congress leader. She discussed the deteriorating condition of the astroturf ground in Rajnandgaon and expressed her desire for a new turf. Accompanied by fellow hockey players, she conveyed her message to Mr. Gandhi.
Supporting Athletes
Mr. Gandhi also inquired about the facilities and training provided at the Khelo India Centre in Rajnandgaon. A man accompanying the athletes shared insights into the support and resources available to players there.
Overall, this train journey allowed Rahul Gandhi to not only promote the Congress party but also engage with the people of Chhattisgarh, listening to their concerns and aspirations. It showcased a more personal and accessible side of political leadership, where leaders actively connect with their constituents while addressing critical issues.
