Microsoft’s recent tech showcase event emphasized the role of AI and introduced a range of new Surface devices. One standout feature is Microsoft Copilot, which the company touts as your “AI companion” on Windows PCs. This AI-driven experience will extend its reach across Windows 11 OS, Microsoft 365, the Edge browser, and the Bing search engine.
Windows 11 Copilot Arriving Soon
Starting from September 26, Windows 11 users can expect the arrival of AI Copilot through a software update. This feature aims to streamline tasks and boost productivity by harnessing the power of automation. Additionally, popular applications like Paint and Photos will receive AI enhancements for more creative digital content creation and photo editing. Microsoft also promises improvements for various tools like Snipping Tool, Notepad, Clipchamp, File Explorer, and the new Outlook app.
Bing Image Creator Gets a Boost
Microsoft announced that its AI image creator in Bing will now be powered by OpenAI’s DALL.E 3. This upgrade will also include integration with Microsoft Designer for easier image editing options. Furthermore, personalized answers based on chat history and AI-driven shopping assistance will be introduced in Bing and Edge through Copilot.
Microsoft 365 Copilot for Enterprise Users
Enterprise users can look forward to Microsoft 365 Copilot, set to be available from November 1. This feature includes ‘Microsoft 365 Chat,’ which can help users tackle complex queries by scanning vast offline and online datasets, acting as a helpful assistant. This fall, Microsoft will roll out AI enhancements across Microsoft 365, Bing, and Edge. Moreover, ‘Designer’ will empower users to create social media-ready graphics and invitations with AI assistance, thanks to DALL.E 3.
Exciting New Surface Devices
Microsoft unveiled an impressive lineup of Surface devices, including:
- Surface Laptop Studio 2: This device features Intel CPUs and NVIDIA Studio tools, delivering double the graphics performance of the MacBook Pro M2 Max. It boasts a 14.4-inch touch display and a haptic-enabled touchpad.
- Surface Laptop Go 3: With a 12.4-inch touch display, Intel Core i5-1235U CPU, up to 16GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD, this laptop is perfect for on-the-go productivity. It runs Windows 11 Home, sports a 40Wh battery, and has a fingerprint sensor in the power button. The base model starts at $799 and will be available in the US from October 3.
- Surface Go 4: This 2-in-1 machine offers a 10.5-inch screen, Intel N200 CPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB memory, starting at $579.
- Surface Hub 3: Microsoft also introduced new Surface Hub 3 screens in 50-inch and 80-inch sizes.
